The project “SIMPLE”, funded under the Green Partnership between UE and ASEAN, develops, with partner schools in the Lower Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam), a set of “sustainability metaverses”, i.e., educational solutions based on the integration of immersive virtual reality environments with serious games and scientific simulations.
SIMPLE will be providing an integrated learning equipment called the Mobile Metaverse Learning Lab (M2L2) that can be deployed quickly and provide a complete virtual reality playground for classes, even in remote locations with limited Internet bandwidth.
The M2L2 will be designed with practicality in mind, aiming to be a seamlessly movable device within a school, providing teachers with all the necessary equipment (4 VR headsets, a server computer, a screen, a projector, and a WiFi router). Even teachers with minimal technical expertise should be able to easily deploy it. With the capacity to accommodate around 10 children simultaneously, some of them engaged with VR headsets, the device should be compact yet ingeniously engineered to meet specific requirements, keeping it safe and simple. It should also incorporate efficient airflow systems to maintain optimal conditions for electronic components. Additionally, a UPS-based stable electricity delivery is necessary, as well as the possibility to allow operation on batteries for 1 to 2 hours.
